A suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Annerley has a population of 11,336 people according to the 2016 census[1].
South of Brisbane's GPO, Annerley lies 6.2 kilometers (3.9 mi) away
On a ridge overlooking the city, much of the suburb is elevated. A number of the original 'Queenslanders' were restored to their former glory as a result of gentrification and the rise in housing costs, giving the suburb a mix of residences that cater to all socio-economic levels. It was once a rundown suburb, particularly close to main roads and with a lot of social housing.
Dairy farms originally occupied the area.
The Annerley public library was built in 1956 by architect James Birrell and opened in 1957 at 448 Ipswich Road.

It's one of the coolest places to live this side of the river, the historic southside suburb of Annerley, made famous by Hugh Lunn's Over the Top With Jim books (his parents' bakery is now the Southside Antique Centre). The suburb is packed with colonial stores, retro arcades, cat cafes, vintage and op shops, Vietnamese eateries, a heritage-listed library and even a cafe with a doggie playground.
