holland park PROFILE

The 2016 census reported 8,111 people living in Holland Park in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

From the Brisbane GPO, Holland Park is approximately 9.3 kilometers (5.8 miles) south-east. There are a few commercial areas along Logan Road, but most of it is residential.

Holland Park is largely made up of wooden houses built after World War II. There is a slight hill in the suburb, which is bisected by Logan Road. A retail district with shops and a public bar is located in the suburb, along with schools and parks. As part of its heritage, Nursery Road is also home to the Mount Thompson crematorium, Queensland's oldest crematorium.

Originally planted as a park, Holland Park took its name from the late Julius Holland, who for many years owned vast areas of scrub land. There was a large agricultural estate extending from what is now Abbotsleigh Street to Arnold Street, and from Logan Road back to Cavendish Road.

From 1865, Holland Park had a predominantly agricultural economy. According to the 2011 census, Holland Park had 7,849 residents, of whom 52% were females and 48% were males. In comparison to the Australian median, the median age of the population was two years younger. In Holland Park, 77.3% of residents were born in Australia, compared to 69.8% nationally.
